On April 30, 2024, NetLS Software Development participated in the conference “Test Drive of IT Professions” for students of Ivano-Frankivsk lyceums, which was organized by King Danylo University. This educational institution annually graduates more than 2000 students, and 300 of them receive diplomas in the field of IT. UKD is a successful European-level university and our partner in creating a strong theoretical base and its practical applications for future engineers.
The idea of the event was to highlight various professions in the IT field, as there is a myth that this industry exists only for developers and code writing. To disprove this, experienced professionals joined together to tell stories about why each profession is important. Along with NetLS, the conference was attended by IT companies Coax and SoftServe. Their representatives revealed the essence of the professions of Delivery Director, UI/UX designer, Ruby/Rails developer, Business Analyst, and Program Manager.
The speaker from our company was Anastasia Targonska, who spoke about the profession of Project Manager. Anastasia has more than 3 years of experience in project management, more than 5 projects in IT, and 10 projects in other areas.
She talked about the necessary skills and knowledge, described the benefits and challenges of her field of work, the tasks that a Project Manager performs, and what you need to do to become it. At the end of her speech, the PM shared with the audience useful tools that will be useful in project management, as well as in studying or any other work.
During the story, Anastasia actively engaged the students in lively communication. At the end, they excitedly raised their hands and asked questions. The most interesting ones were:
- Is it true that the Project Manager does not do as much work as QA or other team members?
No, the Project Manager mainly performs organizational work that the client does not see. Without management, the project will not run properly.
- How to find an approach to difficult clients?
Iterative communication and a positive attitude
- Have you ever had difficulties on a project due to poor communication with the team or client?
Yes, but already communication fixed everything.

After graduating from the school, some attendees will continue their journey at King Danylo University and attend the developmental lectures that we provide for software engineering students and their teachers.
